Crazy Love

This week and last I have been on vacation.  Last week during our week at a cottage, Margaret and I read the book “Crazy Love” by Francis Chan and watched the video segments that corresponded to each chapter.  In summary all I can say is that “you need to read this book.”

In a previous posting I mentioned how reading the biography of Keith Green has never failed to stir up within me an increased desire for God.  Well this book definitively falls into the same camp.

After reading Crazy Love, I have been reawakened to my own complacency and failings with regard to my relationship with the Lord.  I want to examine my life and determine if my life and actions truly align with the Word of God.

There is a great quote at the start of the book, which asks a question that is the basis for the rest of the book.  “To just read the Bible, attend church, and avoid big sins – is this passionate, wholehearted love for God?”

The obvious answer to this question is no, but what does love for God really look like, or more accurately should it look like?  Francis, does a fantastic job answering this questions, and he does it in a way that is genuine and heart-felt.

After reading this book, you will not look at westernized Christianity the same again, and your heart will be stirred to love God with all your heart, soul and strength.  So I say it again, you need to read this book.
